Senior Speech Pathologist
Allison is a qualified Speech Pathologist who has been with the practice for over 5 years providing services to schools in South West Sydney. Her ambition and drive means that she is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to improve the services she provides to her schools. One of these innovations includes a balanced literacy block program provided through a well established shadow teacher model.
Allison is always looking for ways to improve her skills and is currently working part time while studying externally at the University of New England to acquire her qualifications as an early childhood and primary school teacher. She is in her second year of study and thoroughly enjoying seeing ways that education and speech pathology can combine to create strong skill focused programs to enhance learning and student achievement. Allison was awarded a Vice Chancellor’s Scholar award for her high academic achievement in her first year and has retained this title due to high achievement as her study progresses.
Allison is competent in providing therapy to small groups, whole classes and individuals and has had numerous experience in administering screening and diagnostic assessment, face to face teacher/SLSO/parent training, whole staff/parent body workshops and resource/program development. Allison loves working with all areas of speech and language but has a particular passion for literacy and phonological awareness. She is also a firm believer in embedding language teaching into every aspect of schooling.
Allison loves working with children, particularly those in Kindergarten and Year 1. She is often seen carrying around bags of toys, science equipment or one of her many puppets who make regular appearances into all of her younger classes.
