Oliver O’Reilly

Oliver is a Registered Music Therapist who recently joined the Educational Speech Pathology & Therapy team. Oliver completed his Master of Creative Music Therapy at Western Sydney University in 2007.

In his clinical work, Oliver specialises in supporting people develop emotional expression and interpersonal skills, especially those who struggle to find ways to understand and express their feelings and emotions. In designing individual live music for each clinical situation, Oliver draws on his experience performing an array of wind, brass, stringed, percussion and keyboard instruments from a broad range of musical traditions from Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Oliver lectures casually in music and music therapy at Western Sydney University. He is a higher degree research candidate, investigating ways to support pre-service and early career music therapists develop flexibility and responsiveness in their application of music in clinical settings.
